YOUNG(ER) ADULTS GROUP, Men & Women, Ages 18+

A few times/month
Check Events for details

Lead: Curt Allison
Dan Chambers

If you are a young adult, yearning for community in a place of Faith, you are so welcome to join this group. This ministry is geared for those who fall between the ages of 18 and 45 (roughly) to gather with others who share a common faith for fun social events, getting to know one another, and for special events throughout the year. We hold monthly events, gather for random lunches following the service on most Sunday’s (meet at coffee time following church), and have special events like our retreats, Thanksgiving dinner, and the Easter potluck and vigil.

THE WORD IS OUT

Last Tuesday of the month
(Sept to June)

Lead: Curt Allison

Join us for a relaxing evening of food, fellowship, and sharing of moments in our lives with other gay and lesbian people of faith. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and get to know the members of this exciting, growing group within our community. The sharing of a potluck meal starts off the evening and moves to discussion of GLBT and Faith exploration.

MEN’S BREAKFAST

2nd and 4th Thursdays at 7 to 8:30 am year round

It’s a simple concept: we prepare breakfast – oatmeal, all kinds of fruit, toast and jam, orange juice, tea and coffee – then we sit together at a square of tables and practice the discipline of sharing food while listening to the events and concerns of our lives. We find themes and pursue them. The poetry of good conversation touches us. If possible, please email us to say you’re coming – helpful information for the breakfast makers.

CARTER CAFE

Every Tuesday
10:30 to 11:30 am

Time for Coffee, Connection & Community
Everyone is welcome, this is a gathering geared towards older adults seeking connection during the day, as well as a space where we hear about some of the needs of the community (pastoral care) and have the ability to respond to “the parking lot” conversations before they turn into greater issues.

SENIORS LUNCH

3rd Wed at noon
(Sept to June)

Seniors’ Lunch takes place at noon on the third Wednesday of each month, from September to June. Our mandate is to reach out to seniors in the West End community around St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church by offering physical and spiritual sustenance. The church provides the meal, the space and the energetic volunteers who serve our guests,

Along with food for the body, we also share joy and food for the soul. Our team of volunteers (of all ages) bring warmth and welcome to our guests. Following the delicious, hot, catered lunch, members of our ministry team offer the blessing and share stories and words of encouragement. We also offer wonderful live music or a sing along as the guests finish their meal with tea, coffee and desert. The program has been in operation since May 2004.

(Sept to June)

Leads
Roger Phelps
Deb Osmar

Healing touch is an energy-based approach to healing. It is non-invasive, economical, effective and helps to promote relaxation, reduce pain, manage stress, speed healing, and increase a sense of well-being. The Healing Pathway is an educational programme, with developmental phases, that is designed to train and mentor people in developing the gift and skills of healing hands within the Christian tradition. The “textbook”, Healing from the Heart, is in our church library

THE STITCHING CIRCLE

All levels of knitters, crocheters, quilters, and needlework artists are invited to join the Stitching Circle for two hours of camaraderie where projects are shared, ideas are exchanged, and help and advice cheerfully given. We work on personal projects, prayer shawls and make items for the Fall Craft Sale. Meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of the month in Marnie’s room.
