SUMMARY:Befriending Dementia
DESCRIPTION:Dementia is a terrifying possibility for many of us as we age. The language we use in modern society to describe people living with this disease is dismissive at best and extremely damaging at worst. This seminar introduces a new perspective on dementia, and explores ways to ease anxieties and embrace positive aspirations for those living with – – or fearing they might one day live with – – this condition. We will focus on some practical steps you can take today to manage the possibility of cognitive changes in your future.\nFacilitated by Community educator, funeral director, and end-of-life doula Christa Ovenell, the founder of Death’s Apprentice Education & Planning. Her heartfelt, practical approach to tackling difficult topics helps guide people toward inspiring life decisions. Christa was a monthly columnist on CBC’s North by Northwest, where she brought her signature warmth to all manner of discussions about end-of-life matters.
