Five Wednesday evenings (7 to 9 pm) with Prof. Harry Maier, from the Vancouver School of Theology, starting on April 25th and continuing through to May 23rd. Harry has led programmes here at St. Andrew’s Wesley a couple of times in the past (most recently, “Jesus at the Movies”), and people have very much appreciated and enjoyed his teaching.
A tentative outline of what Harry will cover:
April 25 – What got included in the New Testament, and why is this important, and what does this tell us about God and God’s revelation?
May 2 – Jesus as a historical figure (in the context of the Roman Empire) and an exploration of “the Kingdom of God” and Jesus’ parables
May 9 – Looking at the Gospels as post-Easter witnesses
May 16 – Paul as an anti-colonial apostle in the Roman Empire
May 23 – The rest of the New Testament
