The Lawless Firm is a direct descendant from Vancouver’s first Manouche Swing Jazz band, the Kitsilano Kat Kickers, circa early 80’s. Manouche Swing being the term for a genre of jazz invented in France in the early 30’s by Django Reinhardt. Guitarist Michael Dunn leads the band, and is joined by Don Kellett, guitar, Edgar Bridwell, jazz violin, Joe Bourchier, bass, and chanteuse, Eleanore Dunn. Our music is given a Manouche Swing flavour in whatever we play and arrange. A step back in time to the beginnings of jazz in Europe.
