We know that prayer and spiritual practices are important; but so often we can’t seem to get around to doing them! But then, out of the blue, a connection with Spirit happens, and we think, literally, “OMG, why isn’t this (You) part of my day-to-day life?” Well, this programme is for YOU (and me)!
In his book, Naked Spirituality: A Life with God in 12 Simple Words, Brian McLaren shows how the lack of a simple, doable, durable spirituality undermines the very transformation God is calling us to undergo. He presents a 4-stage framework for understanding the spiritual life, and unfolds spiritual practices appropriate to each stage. Each practice is rooted in a simple word: here, thanks, O, sorry, help, please, when, no, why, behold, yes, and silence. Naked Spirituality offers accessible, practical wisdom for living a truly spiritual life.
You will have to get a copy of the book. Use Kindle; order on-line with Amazon; ask your local bookstore to take your “rush order.” I have asked Regent Bookstore to have some copies on hand (approx. $18-20); the bookstore is on the UBC campus at 5800 University Blvd. (phone ahead: 604-228-1820.) If they run out, they can get more within a week.
If you have problems or questions, let us know.
