SUMMARY:Jazz Vespers with Kiki Connelly and the Understory
DESCRIPTION:This Sunday we welcome a familiar face. Benjamin MacRae, our very own Jazz Vespers leader, and the Eastside Secondline, featuring Kayden Gorden on trumpet, Skye Eriksen on saxophone, Ben MacRae on sousaphone and vocals, Strauss Whiteside on piano, and Tyler Murray on drums. You’ll notice that’s a powerful brass section! Although it’s not his final time at Jazz Vespers, this will be Ben MacRae’s last musical appearance so, appropriately, the music will focus on the theme of goodbye and the road. Perhaps the road not taken? “Look up and down that lonesome road,” Ben will sing. “Hang down your head and cry.” We will shed a tear or two at Ben’s departure but we’re also celebrating new beginnings. “Bye bye blues, bells ring, birds sing, sun is shining, no more pinning…” he’ll sing later.\n
