The Impressions Big Band pays tribute to Ian McDougall- a Canadian jazz legend, and an extraordinary trombonist, composer, arranger, educator, and mentor. Trombonist Dennis Esson joins the group as the featured guest, and together these musicians will perform a wonderful selection of Ian’s compositions and arrangements.
Impressions is one of two community big band ensembles run by the Arokis Centre of Music Society, a registered charity founded by the late Ray Sikora, a Vancouver trombonist, arranger and composer. The Society’s mission is preserving and promoting big band jazz, both historic and modern, and the band is comprised of community members with diverse musical backgrounds.
