BILL COSTIN (Piano) is a professional pianist, musical director, composer, arranger, and instructor living in Vancouver.
 
Trained in classical and jazz piano, he has worked out of Vancouver since playing in the UBC big band lead by Dave Robbins in 1982. Many young jazz musicians graduated out of that group (such as Tom Colclough, Tom Keenlyside, Bill Abbott, Derry Byrne, Tom Shorthouse and Dennis Esson). He also performs accompanying cabaret singers, musical theatre, dance concerts, audition sessions, as well as solo piano. He has accompanied many Vancouver performers including: Lorraine Foster, Patricia Duval, Ann Mortifee, Denis Simpson, Gillian Campbell, Ruth Nichol, Cailin Stadnyk, Azuure Joffre, David Marr, Sibel Thrasher, Susinn McFarlen, Jay Brazeau, Laurie Murdoch, Candace Churchill, and Tom Pickett.
 
Other work as an accompanist have been for auditions for the New York, London, and Touring productions of The Book Of Mormon and auditions for various Mirvish theatre productions in Toronto.. He accompanied Miriam Margolyes in “Dickens’ Women” (The Cultch) as well as other artists: Michael Buble, Dal Richards, Chris Diamantopoulos, and Ranee Lee. Bill recently accompanied Beverley Elliott in her one woman show: “Sink Or Swim” at the United Solo Theatre Festival in New York City where it won best musical.
 
BRENT GUBBELS (Acoustic Bass) No stranger to the local scene, Brent Gubbels has been a Vancouver based professional musician and teacher for many years. In that time he’s worked with a diverse group of musicians and ensembles including Van Django, the Hard Rubber Orchestra, Gypsalero, Rumba Calzada, John Reischman, the Vince Mai Project, Dal Richards, Lee Aaron, Dee Daniels as well as Stuart Maclean (Vinyl Café) and Bob McGrath (Sesame Street). As a member of the Oscar Lopez trio he performed pops concerts with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Calgary Symphony Orchestra, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Regina Symphony Orchestra and Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra in addition to playing many of the major jazz and folk festivals across Canada and the United States.
He has toured North America and Europe extensively, performed concerts at Lincoln Centre Plaza, the Kennedy Centre, Southbank Center, Tonder Festival, Towersey Village Festival, Philadelphia Folk Festival, the Clonakilty International Guitar Festival as well as the Nanjing International Jazz Festival in China . He’s also been regularly featured in groups performing at the Vancouver Jazz festival, Vancouver Folk Festival, Edmonton Folk Festival, Calgary Folk Festival and the Winnipeg Folk Festival.
Brent can be heard on recordings by Van Django, Gypsalero, Juno nominees Susan Crowe, Compadres and the Hard Rubber Orchestra as well as Juno winners James Keelaghan and Oscar Lopez.
 
BUFF ALLEN (Drums) has had over fifty years of professional playing experience, in jazz, pop, theatre, recording studios, concert tours, television and movies. He is the recipient of a 1989 Juno award for best jazz album category, as well as the 1987 Laureate in the CBC-Alcan competition at the Montreal Jazz Festival, and was a Juno nominee for 2003. He’s had the honour of being able to play with a large number of great musicians, both local and international, including Diana Krall, Michael Buble, Daniel Lanois, Lenny Breau, Ed Bickert, Johnny Hartman, Moe Koffman, Rob McConnell, Sam Noto, Eugene Amaro, Hagood Hardy, Kathryn Moses, Peter Appleyard, Phil Nimmons, Hank Jones, Teddy Wilson, Johnny Guenieri, Red Norvo, Joanne Brackeen, Kenny Wheeler, Bob Murphy, Pat Coleman, Hugh Fraser, and many more.
 
DAVE SIKULA (Guitar) is a Vancouver, BC based guitarist that has been playing professionally on the scene for over twenty five years. He currently leads his own trio which features bassist Jeff Gammon and drummer Joe Poole, and is also a member of Jesse Cahill’s Nightcrawlers, as well as Jennifer Scott’s trio and quartet. In the past Dave has also shared the stage with greats such as Ian Hendrickson-Smith, Brian Charette, Akiko Tsuruga, Phil Dwyer, Brad Turner, Roy McCurdy, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and many more.
